Repair of a Perforated Duodenal Ulcer Using a Jejunal Serosal Patch: A Case Report

Abstract

A 73-year-old gentleman was admitted to the hospital with ongoing abdominal pain, altered bowels habits, weight loss, and blood-stained vomitus. CT scan revealed evidence of duodenal perforation. The patient underwent laparotomy with repair of large duodenal ulcer perforation using a jejunal serosal patch. Post-operatively, the patient required ITU support, TPN, and an extended course of antibiotics. A water-soluble swallow done approximately 1 month post-operatively did not show any evidence of continued leak.
