
1. Abstract
Depression is defined as a mood disorder, which presents as main characteristics changes in sleep, appetite, loss of interest in pleas- urable activities, depressed mood, among others. Obesity is char- acterized as a chronic disease, of not yet fully clarified etiology, characterized by the accumulation of fat in adipose tissue, being able to negatively affect the metabolic system as a whole, com- promising the health of the individual. The aim of this study was to conduct a systematic review on the prevalence of depressive disorder in the postoperative period of bariatric surgery. For this review, searches were performed in the following databases: Pub Med, SCIELO, LILACS, Elsevier and Embase.
